The FAFSA
(Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the form by which you
declare your family's financial profile. Nearly all need-based awards use the
data submitted on the FAFSA, so this document is quite important! As such, you
might want to practice with an on-line worksheet before you complete the real
FAFSA.
To complete the FAFSA on-line or for practice worksheets, go to
www.fafsa.ed.gov.

The PIN
(Personal Identification Number)
Most government forms can be completed online. If you wish to complete the FAFSA online, you must first obtain
a PIN (Personal Identification Number). This
serves as a digital "signature" in place of a handwritten signature.
You may obtain a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov.
